New Treasure... Christopher Brookmyer

Christopher Brookmyer can be compared to Carl Hiassen when it comes to offbeat mysteries. His characters come, in large part, from Scotland where Brookmyer makes his home.

These books are a series in which Jack Parlabane, a freelance investigative reporter who recently escaped Los Angeles when a mob hitman failed, fatally, to kill him. He sneaks back to Scotland and falls right into cases of murder. His books have been mentioned by authors such as Terry Pratchett as among their favorites.

Brookmyer has only been writing for about 4 years, so I am looking forward to seeing many more books in this series and hopefully other singles and series in the future.

As with all good British authors, his books haven't made the leap across the Atlantic. You will want to use your ingenuity (and the following links) to search for, and order his books. Try either The Internet Bookshop UK or amazon.com UK. Be sure to use their search engines to look for BROOKMYER.

Both get you the books in as fast as three days, but generally in a week or so. Their prices are listed in British £ (pounds Sterling) but you can compute the US costs by using this simple £ to $ calculator:

All covers are and remain the copyright of the artist or artists who originally gave them life. Unless, that is, some publisher paid them a few pounds more to buy the rights away. I have not obtained permission to replicate them, but hope that these fine individuals and international conglomerates recognize that I am just trying to help promote interest (and sales) in their books
