Additional Adams

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy may have started out as a BBC radio series, but it didn't end there. In fact, it didn't even set down and rest for a bit. Adams wrote the original scripts for the first series, submitted them, and was given to go-ahead to create the series. But, between the page and the microphone, some changes got made.

Some of what he wrote either could not be produced for radio, was too visual, or just got misplaced. Or, he thought of something better. The following are books filled with the original scripts—the way Douglas Adams wrote them—or about the whole Hitchhiker's Guide saga.

Although all have been available, some are out of print (used bookstore time, again!)

These are really good books and are a plus for anyone who has enjoyed any of the versions of the Guide.

I have two versions of this book. I got both from US bookstores. This is the cover of the first edition. This is the cover of the 10th Anniversary Edition of the same book.

This is a very good book written by Neil Gaiman (also see Good Omens) and not only tells the story behind the story, it also helps to set right all of the chronologicality of the development of the different versions of the story (I almost forgot the LP record versions which have some differences.)

Originally published in 1988, this recently went out of print. According to Amazon.com, even the publisher is out of stock. So, its off the to used book emporium (or online ordering from some place such as Powells Books)

Remember, there are other books by Douglas Adams (and/or Terry Jones) that you might like to read. They can be found here:

All covers are and remain the copyright of the artist or artists who originally gave them life. Unless, that is, some publisher paid them a few pounds more to buy the rights away. I have not obtained permission to replicate them, but hope that these fine individuals and international conglomerates recognize that I am just trying to help promote interest (and sales) in their books
